About the Round Table

The Under 35 Roundtable at the West Indian Social Club of Hartford is a community engagement initiative designed to connect, empower, and inspire the next generation of leaders within the West Indian and Caribbean-American community. The program provides a welcoming space for young adults under 35 to share ideas, discuss issues affecting their communities, build professional and personal networks, and engage in meaningful conversations about leadership, culture, and civic involvement. Through open dialogue and collaboration, participants are encouraged to become active contributors to the future growth and success of their communities

Guided by the belief that “You Are the Future,” the Under 35 Roundtable creates opportunities for emerging leaders to develop their voices, strengthen connections with peers and mentors, and gain valuable insight into community engagement and leadership. By bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, the program helps foster a sense of belonging, cultural pride, and shared responsibility for preserving and advancing West Indian and Caribbean heritage for future generations

The Goals of the Round Table

The Under 35 Roundtable is committed to empowering young adults by providing a space where their voices, perspectives, and ideas can be heard and valued. The program seeks to strengthen the legacy of the Caribbean community by encouraging leadership development, civic engagement, and active participation in community initiatives. Through meaningful discussions and networking opportunities, participants are encouraged to explore new economic and professional opportunities while developing the skills needed to become future leaders

In addition, the Under 35 Roundtable works to identify and address challenges that may impact the interests and well-being of the community. By fostering collaboration across generations, the program creates opportunities for young adults to learn from experienced community leaders while sharing their own insights and vision for the future. This exchange of knowledge and ideas helps build a stronger, more connected community that is prepared to preserve its cultural heritage and meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Benefits of Participating

The Under 35 Roundtable was formed to empower the next generation of leaders and ensure the long-term sustainability of both our organization and Caribbean culture. By embracing the vision, creativity, and innovative ideas of young adults, the Roundtable provides members with a meaningful voice in the community and an opportunity to help shape its future. Participants can build valuable connections, expand their professional and personal networks, and engage with community leaders who share a commitment to positive growth and development

Through active involvement, members have the opportunity to give back to the community, develop leadership and communication skills, and contribute to initiatives that make a lasting impact. The Under 35 Roundtable encourages collaboration, learning, and civic engagement while providing a platform for individuals to share ideas, address community needs, and work together toward creating a stronger and more vibrant future for the West Indian and Caribbean-American community.

Core Values

The Under 35 Roundtable is guided by a set of core values that promote personal growth, community engagement, and collective success. We believe in fostering prosperity and self-actualization by encouraging individuals to reach their full potential while contributing to the advancement of the community. Through integration, interconnection, and holism, we recognize the importance of building meaningful relationships, embracing diverse perspectives, and understanding how individual actions contribute to the well-being of the larger community. These values help create a strong foundation for collaboration, leadership, and positive change

The Roundtable also emphasizes the importance of inter-racial relationships, community involvement, accountability, self-awareness, and self-respect. By encouraging mutual understanding and respect among people of all backgrounds, we strive to build stronger and more inclusive communities. We believe that responsible leadership begins with self-awareness and accountability, while self-respect empowers individuals to confidently contribute their talents and ideas. Together, these values inspire members to become engaged citizens, effective leaders, and positive influences within the West Indian and Caribbean-American community
